The World Bank’s three-by-three matrix supporting energy transition in coal regions unfolds into more discrete targeted activities. Those are more often led by government in coordination with a diverse stakeholder group. Early planning & preparedness by various public agencies (central, regional and local) has proven to be vitally important.
The coordination that the process can bring through applying strong policies, regional development frameworks, and continuous stakeholder engagement which guides the identification and implementation of transition projects, is of equal importance. The selection of discrete activities will vary region-by-region according to work that has already been undertaken, and gaps that may exist.
